કાર્યકર માંથી મુખ્યમંત્રી - નરેન્દ્ર મોદીનો રાજકિય ઇતિહાસ
17 સપ્ટેમ્બર, 1950 ના દિવસે ઉત્તર ગુજરાતના મહેસાણા જીલ્લાના વડનગરમાં સામાન્ય મધ્યમવર્ગના પરિવારમાં નરેન્દ્રભાઈનો જ્ન્મ થયો હતો. વિદ્યાર્થી અવસ્થામાં જ તેમનામાં નેતૃત્વના ગુણોનો વિકાસ થયો હતો. અખિલ ભારતીય વિદ્યાર્થી પરિષદની સ્થાપનામાં નરેન્દ્રભાઈનો પણ ફાળો રહેલ છે. રાજ્યશાસ્ત્રની અંદર અનુસ્નાતક થયેલ નરેન્દ્રભાઈ અભ્યાસકાળ દરમિયાન પણ રાજકારણમાં સક્રિય રહેલાં.
1974 માં રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્વયંસેવક સંઘમાં જોડાયા. કટોકટી દરમિયાન ભુગર્ભમાં રહીને મોદીએ કટોકટીનો વિરોધ કર્યો હતો. 1980 ની અંદર ભાજપમાં જોડાયા. ભાજપ અને રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્વયંસેવક સંઘ વચ્ચેના સંબંધોમાં સેતુરૂપે કામગીરી બજાવી. 1988 માં ગુજરાત પ્રદેશ ભાજપના જનરલ સેક્રેટરી બન્યાં. 1990માં ગુજરતની અંદર ચીમનભાઈ પટેલના નેતૃત્વ હેઠળ જનતાદળ સરકાર બની ત્યારે સૌ પ્રથમ ભાજપે સરકારમાં ભાગીદારી કરીમે સત્તાનો સ્વાદ ચાખ્યો હતો. પરંતુ જનતાદળ સાથે ભાજપની ભાગીદારી લાંબો સમય સુધી ટકી નહતી પરંતુ હવે ભાજપ સત્તા મેળવવા માટે અધીરૂ બની ગયું હતું. ગુજરાત ભાજપે વરિષ્ઠ નેતાઓ શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલા, કેશુભાઈ અને નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના નેતૃત્વ હેઠળ સત્તા મેળવવા માટે એડીચોટીનું જોર લગાવ્યું હતું. ભાજપના રાષ્ટ્રીય નેતા લાલકૃષ્ણ અડવાણીના નેતૃત્વ હેઠળ સોમનાથથી અયોધ્યા રથયાત્રાનું આયોજન થયું. જેની અંદર નરેન્દ્ર મોદીનો સિંહ ફાળો રહ્યો હતો. અડવાણીના ચહેરાને સમગ્ર દેશમાં ચમકાવવા પડદા પાછળ નરેન્દ્ર મોદીની ભુમિકા મહત્વની રહી જે આગળ જતાં ભાજપને સત્તા અપાવવામાં સફળ રહી. 1988 થી 1995 સુધી ગુજરાતમાં સંગઠન ક્ષેત્રે નરેન્દ્રભાઈએ અથાગ મહેનત કરેરે કાર્યકરો વચ્ચે ફરીને ભાજપને મજબૂત કર્યો. સામાન્ય કાર્યકરથી લઈને છેક પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ સુધી ભાજપનું સંગઠન સત્તા સુધી પહોચી શકે તે માટે દિવસ-રાત એક કરી ગુજરાતના ગામડાઓ અને શહેરો ખુંદી વળ્યાં. ભાજપ એટલે હિંદુત્વ. હિંદુત્વના મુદ્દાને ભાજપે આખા દેશમાં ગુંજતો કર્યો અને સત્તા મેળવવામાં સફળતા પ્રાપ્ત કરી. હિંદુત્વના હામી, હિંદુત્વના રક્ષણહાર, અયોધ્યામાં રામ જન્મભૂમિ ખાતે રામ મંદિર બનાવીશું, 302 ની કલમ કાશ્મીરમાંથી દુર કરીશું જેવા મુદ્દાઓ ભારતની બહુમતિ હિન્દુ પ્રજામાં આશાઓને જ્ન્મ આપી મત મેળવવામાં સફળ રહ્યાં. 1995 ની અંદર ભાજપના રાષ્ટ્રીય મહામંત્રી તરીક નરેન્દ્ર મોદી બિરાજ્યાં અને તેમને ભારતના પાંચ રાજ્યોની જવાબદારી સોંપી. 1998માં તેઓ સેક્રેટરી બન્યાં જે પદ તેમણે ઓક્ટોમ્બર 2001 સુધી નિભાવ્યું. ત્યાર બાદ ગુજરાતના મુખ્યમંત્રી પદે આરૂઢ થયાં.
1995માં ગુજરાતમાં ભાજપની સરકાર બની. શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલા અને કેશુભાઈ પટેલ વરિષ્ઠ નેતાઓ મુખ્યમંત્રીની હરોળમાં હતાં. કેશુભાઈ મુખ્યમંત્રી બનવામાં સફળ રહ્યાં. ગુજરાતના ખેડુતોનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરતાં કેશુભાઈનું મુખ્યમંત્રી પદે બીરાજવું એ ખાસ કરીને ગુજરાતના ખેડુતો અને પટેલ જ્ઞાતિ માટે ગૌરવની વાત હતી.
ગુજરાતનો પટેલ સમુદાય ભાજપની પડખે ઉભો હતો. કેશુભાઈના નેતૃત્વ હેઠળ જ્વલંત વિજયી અપાવી ગાંધીનગરની ગાદી પ્રાપ્ત કરવામાં ભાજપને પટેલ સમુદાયે તન, મન અને ધનથી મદદ કરેલી. પરંતુ ભાજપની આ વિકાસગાથામાં દિલ્હી બેઠેલા નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ પાસા ફેંકવાની શરૂઆત કરી નાંખેલી. ગુજરાતના રાજકારણમાં નરેન્દ્ર મોદીમાં રહેલી મુખ્યમંત્રી બનવાની મહત્વકાંક્ષાએ ધીરે ધીરે તેનો રંગ બતાવવાની શરૂઆત કરી. શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલાની સતત ઉપેક્ષા થાય તેવા પ્રસંગો બનવા લાગ્યાં. એવી ઘટનાઓનું નિર્માણ થવા લાગ્યું જેમાં શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલા અપમાનજનક સ્થિતિમાં મુકાવું પડે અને તે પણ એટલી હદ સુધી કે એકે સમયના ગુજરાત ભાજપના આદરણીય નેતા શંકારસિંહ વાઘેલા જેઓની રાજકીય કારકિર્દીની શરૂઆત જનસંઘ, આરએસએસ અને ભાજપમાં રહીને ગુજરાતમાં સત્તાના સૂત્રો કબજે કરવામાં મહત્વનું યોગદાન આપ્યું હતું. કોંગ્રેસની સામે જેઓ સતત લડતાં રહ્યાં હતાં તેવા નેતાને ભાજપામાંથી બહાર નીકળવા માટે મોદીએ તેમને મજબુર કર્યા. કેશુભાઈ અને શંકરસિંહ વચ્ચેના સંબંધો તંગ કરાવવામાં પણ તેઓ સફળ રહ્યાં હતાં. ત્યાર બાદ કેશુભાઈ કેશુભાઈ 2001 માં વિનાશક ભુકંપ આવ્યો હતો જે કેશુભાઈના રાજકીય જીવનમાં પણ હંમેશા ભારે અને હળવા ઝટકા આપતો રહ્યો. ત્યાર બાદ કેશુભાઈ સરકારની મીડિયામાં સતત ટીકાઓ થતી રહી. દિલ્હી બેઠેલા મોવડી મંડળને ગુજરાતની અંદર નેતાગીરી બદલવા માટે સમયાનુસાર માંગણીઓ થતી રહી.
સાબરમતી, સાબરકાંઠા અને વડોદરાની ચુંટણીમાં કોંગ્રેસની વિજયે કેશુભાઈની વિદાય નક્કી કરી દિધી. અને કેશુભાઈને રાજીનામું આપવું પડ્યું. ત્યાર બાદ દિલ્હીથી ગાંધીનગરની ગાદીએ ગુજરાતના મુખ્યમંત્રી તરીકે મોદી આરૂઢ થયાં. ગુજરાતની અંદર મોદીત્વ, મોદીનીતિ, મોદીઝમ, મોદીનિષ્ઠા, મોદીના જયજયકારની શરૂઆત થઈ. મોદીના મનની ઈચ્છા પુર્ણ થઈ. પોતાની ઇચ્છાને પુર્ણ કરવા મોદીએ ક્ષત્રિય કોમના આગેવાન અને પટેલ કોમના આગેવાન નેતાને દુર કર્યા. ભાજપમાંથી માત્ર અને માત્ર મોદીનો જ જયજયકાર કરે તેવા આક્રમક કાર્યકરોની ટોળકીઓ બનાવી જેનું એકમાત્ર લક્ષ્ય મોદી સામે પડતાં પક્ષનાં નેતાઓનો વિરોધ કરવો. ભાજપમાં મોદીનું શાસન જળવાઈ રહે અને વિરોધ કરનાર પક્ષ રાજનીતિમાંથી બહાર ફેંકાઈ જાય તેવી નીતિરીતિનો અમલ અસ્તિત્વમાં આવ્યો. ભાગલા પાડો અને રાજ કરો તેવા અંગ્રેજોના સૂત્રને અમલમાં મુકીને સફળતાપૂર્વક સરકાર ચલાવી. પ્રજાની લાગણી જીતવામાં નરેન્દ્ર મોદીને ગુજરાતના રાજકારણની અંદર કોઈ પહોચી શકે તેમ નથી.
આમ સામાન્ય કાર્યકરમાંથી મુખ્યમંત્રી સુધીની સફર કરવામાં હજું સુધી મોદી સફળ રહ્યાં છે પરંતુ તેમનું ભવિષ્ય આગામી સમયમાં જ નક્કી થશે.

આમ સામાન્ય કાર્યકરમાંથી મુખ્યમંત્રી સુધીની સફર કરવામાં હજું સુધી મોદી સફળ રહ્યાં છે પરંતુ તેમનું ભવિષ્ય આગામી સમયમાં જ નક્કી થશે.
મુખ્યમંત્રી પદ માટે મોદી પહેલી પસંદ ગુજરાતમાં થશે જોરદાર ટક્કર
દિલ્લી (ભાષા) એક અંગ્રેજી સમાચાર પત્રિકામાં ચુનાવ પહેલાં જનમત સર્વેક્ષણ મુજબ ગુજરાત વિધાનસભા ચૂંટણીમાં સત્તારુઢ ભાજપા અને વિપક્ષી કોંગ્રેસ વચ્ચે જોરદાર ટક્કર થવાની સંભાવના છે.
અંગ્રેજી પત્રિકા 'ધ વીક' તરફથી સી-વોટર ના તરફથી કરવામાં આવેલા એક જનમત સર્વેક્ષણ મુજબ ભાજપાને 91 થી 107 સીટો મળવાની આશા છે.
જ્યારે કે કોંગ્રેસને ભાગે 71 થી 87 સીટો જવાની આશા છે. અન્ય પાર્ટીના ભાગે એક થી છ સીટો જવાની શક્યતા છે. આ જનમત સર્વેક્ષણ મુજબ 182 સભ્યોની વિધાનસભામાં ભાજપા અને કોંગ્રેસની વચ્ચે હાલ અંતર ફક્ત 20 સીટોનું છે.
સર્વેક્ષણમાં એ અનુમાન લગાવવામાં આવ્યું છે કે જો 45 ટકા મતદાતા પોતાના મતાધિકારનો પ્રયોગ કરશે તો ભાજપા અને કોંગ્રેસ બંનેને 83 થી 99ની વચ્ચે સપ્રમાણ સીટો મળી શકે છે. સર્વેક્ષણ મુજબ મતાધિકારનો ઉપયોગ કરવાવાળા મતદાતાઓની સંખ્યામાં વધારો થવાનો ફાયદો ભાજપાને મળશે, જેના ચૂંટણીના પ્રચારની કમાન રાજ્યના મુખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદી પોતે સંભાળી રહ્યા છે.
અંગ્રેજી દૈનિકના સર્વેક્ષણ રિપોર્ટનું કહેવું છે કે જો 50 ટકા મતદાતાઓ પોતાના મતાધિકારનો ઉપયોગ કરશે તો ભાજપાના ભાગે 91 થી 107 સીટો આવશે. અને વિપક્ષી કોંગ્રેસને 71 થી 87 સીટોથી સંતોષ કરવો પડશે.
સર્વેક્ષણના ક્રમમાં દક્ષિણ, મધ્ય, ઉત્તર ગુજરાત અને કચ્છ તથા સૌરાષ્ટ્રના 40 વિધાનસભા ક્ષેત્રોના 800થી વધુ મતદાન કેન્દ્રોના 7492 લોકો પાસે તેમના મંતવ્યો જાણ્યા. જેમાં જાણવા મળ્યુ કે સત્તારુઢ ભાજપાને સૌથી વધુ નુકશાન સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં થવાનું છે, જે ભાજપાના અસંતુષ્ટ નેતા અને પૂર્વ મુખ્યમંત્રી કેશુભાઈ પટેલનો ગઢ છે.
રિપોર્ટ મુજબ સર્વેક્ષણમાં ભાગ લેનારા 51 ટકા લોકોનું માનવુ છે કે મોદી એક યોગ્ય મુખ્યમંત્રી હશે, જ્યારે કે 31 ટકા લોકોને શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલાને આ પદ માટે યોગ્ય ઠેરવ્યાં છે. પટેલ ફક્ત પાંચ ટકા લોકોની પસંદ છે. જ્યારે કે 3 ટકા લોકો એ ભરતસિંહ સોલંકીને પસંદ કર્યા.
અંગ્રેજી પત્રિકા 'ધ વીક' તરફથી સી-વોટર ના તરફથી કરવામાં આવેલા એક જનમત સર્વેક્ષણ મુજબ ભાજપાને 91 થી 107 સીટો મળવાની આશા છે.

અંગ્રેજી દૈનિકના સર્વેક્ષણ રિપોર્ટનું કહેવું છે કે જો 50 ટકા મતદાતાઓ પોતાના મતાધિકારનો ઉપયોગ કરશે તો ભાજપાના ભાગે 91 થી 107 સીટો આવશે. અને વિપક્ષી કોંગ્રેસને 71 થી 87 સીટોથી સંતોષ કરવો પડશે.
સર્વેક્ષણના ક્રમમાં દક્ષિણ, મધ્ય, ઉત્તર ગુજરાત અને કચ્છ તથા સૌરાષ્ટ્રના 40 વિધાનસભા ક્ષેત્રોના 800થી વધુ મતદાન કેન્દ્રોના 7492 લોકો પાસે તેમના મંતવ્યો જાણ્યા. જેમાં જાણવા મળ્યુ કે સત્તારુઢ ભાજપાને સૌથી વધુ નુકશાન સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં થવાનું છે, જે ભાજપાના અસંતુષ્ટ નેતા અને પૂર્વ મુખ્યમંત્રી કેશુભાઈ પટેલનો ગઢ છે.
રિપોર્ટ મુજબ સર્વેક્ષણમાં ભાગ લેનારા 51 ટકા લોકોનું માનવુ છે કે મોદી એક યોગ્ય મુખ્યમંત્રી હશે, જ્યારે કે 31 ટકા લોકોને શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલાને આ પદ માટે યોગ્ય ઠેરવ્યાં છે. પટેલ ફક્ત પાંચ ટકા લોકોની પસંદ છે. જ્યારે કે 3 ટકા લોકો એ ભરતસિંહ સોલંકીને પસંદ કર્યા.
હિન્દુ સમુદાય સંગઠિત થઇને તેની શક્તિનો અહેસાસ કરાવે
ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણી-2007માં મુખ્યપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીને ટેકો આપવાનું જાહેર કરતા વિશ્વ હિન્દુ પરિષદ (વિહિપ)ના અધ્યક્ષ અશોક સિંઘલે ગઇકાલે જણાવ્યું હતું કે, આતંકવાદનો મુકાબલો કરવા માટે ગુજરાત રાજય મોડલ રાજય તરીકે સમગ્ર દેશમાં લાગુ કરવું જોઇએ.
સિંઘલે નવી દિલ્હી ખાતે પત્રકાર પરિષદને સંબોધતાં કહ્યું હતું કે, ગુજરાતમાં ગોધરાકાંડ બાદ હિન્દુ સમાજે જે રીતે શાંતિનું પ્રદર્શન કર્યું છે તેનું આખા દેશમાં અનુસરણ થવું જોઇએ. તેમણે સ્પષ્ટ કર્યું હતું કે, ગુજરાત મોડલનો અર્થ એવો નથી કે કોઇ સમુદાય વિરુદ્ધ હિંસા આચરવી. દેશના અનેક ભાગોમાં બનતી આતંકવાદી ઘટનાઓનો ઉલ્લેખ કરતા વિહિપ અધ્યક્ષે જણાવ્યું કે, જો હિન્દુ સમુદાય સંગઠિત થઇને તેની શક્તિનો અહેસાસ કરાવે તો મુસ્લિમ સમુદાય પોતાની પહેલ ઉપર આતંકવાદી તત્વોને ભોંયભેગા કરી દેશે.

Godhra was fresh in the mind of the people of the State as well as the nation. The BJP's allies were not too enthusiastic to campaign for Mr Modi. And pollsters predicted doom for the party in the State.
Yet, Mr Modi was able to win with a handsome majority. The Congress was unable to match his oratory, or the electoral management led by BJP leader Arun Jaitley. Above all, the Hindu-Muslim polarisation in Gujarat went against the Congress.
In 2007, things are quite different. The BJP-led NDA Government lost power in 2004 Lok Sabha election. The Congress-led UPA has been ruling at the Centre for the past three-and-a-half years. Mr Modi's 'arrogant' style of functioning has alienated him from the RSS. His popularity is on the wane within his own party.
The BJP has a leadership crisis at the national level. Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee is more or less retired from politics. Mr LK Advani wants to be the prime ministerial candidate. BJP president Rajnath Singh has not proved himself so far. The second-rung leadership, which includes Mr Modi, is still waiting for the generational change.
On the positive side, Mr Modi had been the Chief Minister for full five years. There have been no communal clashes since Godhra. His election speech today is on development and not on Gen Pervez Musharraf. He is seeking votes on his performance and is popular among the urban middle class.
If he wins the State for the BJP even with a less majority, he is bound to become the party icon and may move to national politics. The BJP, too, will get a morale booster after its recent humiliation in Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. The allies, too, will remain intact if the poll prospects improve, thus setting the trend for the Lok Sabha election.
What are the chances of the Congress in Gujarat? The party, which has remained out of power in the State for the past 12 years, needs to do better and improve in some key areas. Its strategists are hoping for a re-run of the anti-Modi campaign in 2004 Lok Sabha election, which saw the BJP lose strongholds like Amreli. The BJP could just win 14 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats.
The Congress is also hoping to gain from the internal squabbling in the BJP. It is hoping for some better showing in the tribal belt. The party is also trying to woo the two large support groups of Mr Modi -- Kohlis and Leuva Patels. Above all, the anti-incumbency factor may work in favour of the Congress.
One of the reasons for the Left parties to show restraint against the Congress is said to be the Gujarat election. These parties do not want to weaken the Congress in Gujarat by pulling out of the UPA Government at this juncture. The Communists are keen to get Mr Modi defeated. That is why despite all public statements, the Left parties are showing a softening posture.
The Congress, like the BJP, has concentrated on the Gujarat election for quite some time and has stationed observers in each district. Money and manpower are utilised to the full extent.
The Congress has even accommodated the rebel BJP candidates, which may or may not help the party. The biggest advantage for the Congress, however, is its strong Central leadership.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi is quite practical and knows that it's going to be real hard work to win the State.
The party is still licking its wounds from the humiliating defeat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, despite the successful public meetings and road shows by Ms Gandhi and her son, Mr Rahul Gandhi. It will be a test for Mr Gandhi, the newly appointed AICC general secretary, to show that he can be a crowd-puller as well as a vote-catcher.

BJP’s questions to Sonia Gandhi
Bharatiya Janata Party has asked two questions to Sonia Gandhi who is starting her campaign in Gujarat today. Party’s spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that Sonia Gandhi should clarify the role of Congress in the development of tribal of Gujarat.
He charged Congress with coming in the way of development of tribal people by obstructing the implementation of tribal welfare measures of Gujarat. He said that the Act for the development of tribal people was passed in 2005, but no rules of its implementation have been passed.
Referring to gang rape of tribal women in Assam, he said that Congress should have dismissed the state government. How can the Congress party talk about the interest of tribal, he asked.

ભાજપે ગુજરાતનાં મુખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીની સિદ્ધિઓમાં વિકાસ સિવાય આતંકવાદ પર અંકુશને પણ ગણાવતા આજે શનિવારે કહ્યું હતું કે, તેમનાં શાસનમાં આતંકવાદીઓની ગુજરાતમાં ઘુસવાની હિંમત નથી.
ભાજપ ઉપાધ્યક્ષ મુખ્ય્તાર અબ્બાસ નકવીએ દિલ્હીમાં પત્રકારોને જણાવ્યું હતું કે, ગુજરાતમાં આતંકવાદીઓને ઘુસવાની હિંમત નથી. નિશ્ચિત રીતે તે મોદીની ઉપલબ્ધીઓમાં સામેલ છે. તેમણે ગુજરાતથી ઉત્તર પ્રદેશની તુલના કરતાં કહ્યું હતું કે, આ હિન્દી ભાષી પ્રદેશનાં અડધા જીલ્લા આતંકવાદથી પ્રભાવિત છે જ્યારે અરબ સાગરથી જોડાયેલો મોદીનો પ્રદેશ આતંકવાદથી સંપૂર્ણ મુક્ત છે.

Sonia launches poll campaign from Anand Gujarat
In the run-up to assembly elections in Gujarat next month, Congress President Sonia Gandhi launched her party's election campaign on Saturday with a rally in Anand, a known BJP-stronghold.
The Congress has also challenged Modi for a public debate on the issue of development in the state and said it would expose Modi's ''tall claims'' about his government's achievements.
Sonia Gandhi launched a scathing attack on BJP over the Sethusamudram issue saying how could a party which drags Lord Ram's name for political gains be trusted.
Gandhi said that the Sethusamudram project was being ''used these days as a means to arouse the emotions of people''.
''Why don't they tell the truth that it was during the BJP rule and under the NDA regime that the project came about? You should know this truth and tell other people as well.
''Did they (BJP) not think about Lord Ram while deciding about the scheme,'' she said, adding the UPA government was looking at all aspects of the issue without hurting the sentiments of any religion.
''For the Congress party, all religions are equal,'' she added.
Attacking the Narendra Modi government, the Congress President said ''for sometime now, a question is being asked within the country and outside about the kind of people playing a leadership role in the state''.
Gandhi said it was unfortunate that the reins of the government are in the hands of people who have nothing to do with the high morals of society, politics and humanity.
All signs seem to indicate that the recent Tehelka sting, which sought to expose Modi's direct links with the Gujarat riots, will be made an election issue. (With PTI inputs)

Caste issues will dominate Gujarat
Caste, and not communal issues, will dominate the coming assembly elections in Gujarat in contrast to what happened five years ago, says social scientist and social activist Achyut Yagnik.
And this is bound to pose a major challenge to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has ruled the state for more than a decade, said Yagnik, a veteran observer of Gujarati society.
''Caste has acquired a new meaning as compared to the earlier times. This has led to identity politics acquiring a different form,'' said Yagnik.
To substantiate his view, he gave examples of several caste specific events that have been organized in the last few months in the state in which more political representation was sought on the basis of caste.
He said that it was perhaps for the first time in Gujarat that more than 100,000 Brahmins came together in Rajkot in September.
''Political leaders across the party lines shared the platform. Attending the meeting were Suresh Mehta, the dissident BJP leader from Kutch, and also Nalin Bhatt, now the face of the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) in the state. The Brahmins aired the demand for 30 seats for their community in the assembly,'' he said.
Yagnik's latest book is ''The Shaping of Modern Gujarat: Plurality, Hindutva and Beyond''. He authored it along with Suchitra Sheth, an alumni of the Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design. Gujarat will see elections Dec 11 and 16.
Yagnik said that a couple of months ago the Prajapatis, a caste mainly into the vocation of pottery, had also organized a meet on similar lines in Surat and had turned up in strength to seek more political representation.
''There was a Patel meet in Rajkot. Earlier, only Patels were known to have organized such meets. Now even the tribal events are being organized on similar lines. For example, the Gamits and Choudharies have held events on caste or group lines.''
This, Yagnik said, had led to a contradiction when seen from the viewpoint of the votaries of Hindutva.
''Earlier there were talks in terms of one Hindu society. Now it is on the basis of caste. Hence, Hindutva is becoming meaningless.
''Earlier people used to raise issues through various Sangh Parivar outfits like Kisan Sangh,'' he said, referring to groups linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). ''Now the channels have changed, the demands are being aired on the platform of caste. This is a real challenge for the BJP.''
This, Yagnik reasoned, is why Chief Minister Narendra Modi was adopting a multi-pronged approach in his campaign speeches.
''He now talks not only of Hindutva but also of good governance, development and criticizes the central government for its failure to check inflation and raises the issues of internal security. Incidentally, he attacks only the Congress and not the other allies of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).''
Just five years ago, it had seemed in Gujarat that only Hindu religious consciousness would matter. And it did play a key role in helping Modi to lead the BJP to a thumping win in the December 2002 assembly elections.
The social scientist is of the opinion that the politics of caste has seen a considerable change from the formulation of the KHAM (Kshatriya-Harijan-Adivasi-Muslim) strategy by the Congress in the 1980s.
With the Congress playing according to the rules of the KHAM strategy, the Patels - forming a socially, politically and economically dominant caste in the state - moved away from the Congress.
Yagnik asserts that the Patels see themselves as the backbone of the BJP in the state. This was also the case with the Koli community that had been weaned away from the Congress by Shankarsinh Vaghela when he was state BJP president.
He says that today the equations were again undergoing a change. The Kolis are divided in their support to the BJP since Vaghela is now a face of the Congress in Gujarat.
Similarly, With Keshubhai Patel leading a dissident movement against Modi, a majority of Leuva Patels (sect of Patels to which Keshubhai belongs) are now ranged against Modi and the BJP.
''However, the Kadwa Patels are still with Modi along with some of the Aanjna Patels. So it will be a very interesting situation once the poll process gets under way,'' said Yagnik.

And this is bound to pose a major challenge to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has ruled the state for more than a decade, said Yagnik, a veteran observer of Gujarati society.
''Caste has acquired a new meaning as compared to the earlier times. This has led to identity politics acquiring a different form,'' said Yagnik.
To substantiate his view, he gave examples of several caste specific events that have been organized in the last few months in the state in which more political representation was sought on the basis of caste.
He said that it was perhaps for the first time in Gujarat that more than 100,000 Brahmins came together in Rajkot in September.
''Political leaders across the party lines shared the platform. Attending the meeting were Suresh Mehta, the dissident BJP leader from Kutch, and also Nalin Bhatt, now the face of the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) in the state. The Brahmins aired the demand for 30 seats for their community in the assembly,'' he said.
Yagnik's latest book is ''The Shaping of Modern Gujarat: Plurality, Hindutva and Beyond''. He authored it along with Suchitra Sheth, an alumni of the Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design. Gujarat will see elections Dec 11 and 16.
Yagnik said that a couple of months ago the Prajapatis, a caste mainly into the vocation of pottery, had also organized a meet on similar lines in Surat and had turned up in strength to seek more political representation.
''There was a Patel meet in Rajkot. Earlier, only Patels were known to have organized such meets. Now even the tribal events are being organized on similar lines. For example, the Gamits and Choudharies have held events on caste or group lines.''
This, Yagnik said, had led to a contradiction when seen from the viewpoint of the votaries of Hindutva.
''Earlier there were talks in terms of one Hindu society. Now it is on the basis of caste. Hence, Hindutva is becoming meaningless.
''Earlier people used to raise issues through various Sangh Parivar outfits like Kisan Sangh,'' he said, referring to groups linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). ''Now the channels have changed, the demands are being aired on the platform of caste. This is a real challenge for the BJP.''
This, Yagnik reasoned, is why Chief Minister Narendra Modi was adopting a multi-pronged approach in his campaign speeches.
''He now talks not only of Hindutva but also of good governance, development and criticizes the central government for its failure to check inflation and raises the issues of internal security. Incidentally, he attacks only the Congress and not the other allies of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).''

No person has dominated Gujarat politics as much as Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and the coming assembly elections will be focussed on his persona, says scholar and Gujarat expert Ghanshyam Shah.
Ironically, if Modi were to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to an electoral win, it would only prove that economic forces can overcome the emotive appeal of Hindutva, which he once openly championed, Shah said in an interview.
"It is for the first time that an election (in the state) is centred on an individual who cannot be ignored. Such a personality has never dominated Gujarati society," Shah told IANS.
"Whether he wins or loses, the result will have far reaching impact on Gujarati society."

"But if he wins, it will be an ironic indication that Hindutva forces can be overcome by economic forces. That is his strategy, why he is constantly talking about economic development rather than Hindutva."
With Gujarat set to elect a new legislature on December 11 and 16, opposition is mounting against Modi, an iconic BJP leader who has been at the helm of affairs in the state for seven years.
Having taken charge in 2001 when the ruling BJP's popularity was steadily dipping, Modi led the party to a thumping win in the December 2002 polls on the strength of a Hindu-Muslim divide sparked by that year's communal violence.
But as dissidents in the BJP step up their campaign against Modi, joined by a section of Hindu holy men who once were the chief minister's cheerleaders, it is clear the BJP is up against a solid wall. The Congress is buoyant.
Modi is equally confident of retaining power. He is dismissing the rebels as of no consequence.
Shah said the BJP's character in Gujarat would change whether or not the party wins the elections.
"If Modi wins, it will have an adverse impact on the party in terms of its cadres and the ideology of Hindutva. If he loses, there will be the message that it has become like any other mass based party where simple ideology is not as important as the secular economic issues.
"There will be a message to Gujarati society that the BJP as an ideological party will be no more."
Shah added that Gujarat's voters cannot be mobilised any more on the emotive issue that dominated elections five years ago -- Hindu-Muslim divide fuelled by a train burning in 2002 that killed 59 passengers and sparked the worst Hindu-Muslim violence the state has ever seen.
"It is the compulsion of politics," Shah explained. "People cannot be mobilised on emotive issues for long. That cannot sustain. Modi has experienced this and has hence raised material issues."
What about issues like Narmada waters and other such issues?
"They will remain. It is not indicative of Gujarati parochialism. All these years Modi built on Gujarati identity and Gujarati pride, and he is now playing on that. (But) all his economic policies are against the Hindutva concept of Swadeshi (self-reliance)."
What about those victims of the 2002 violence who have not got justice so far?
Shah answered: "Neither Modi nor the Congress will touch the issue of Hindus and Muslims. The Congress has no courage to do this. Even the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) will not touch it.
"We have to accept that most victims have gone back to their homes. Another thing that needs to be noticed is that in the last two years civil society in Gujarat has gained space. This was not there before.
"They have been able to hold demonstrations, exhibitions, seminars. People from institutions like the Sahitya Parishad have started taking positions and Gujarat Vidyapith is giving space to civil society. This was not possible two years back."

ભાકપા અને માકપાએ ગુજરાતમાં યોજાનારી વિધાનસભા ચૂંટણી લડવા માટે જોડાણ બનાવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો છે. આ માહિતી ભાકપા સચિવ અને ગુજરાત એકમના પ્રભારી શમીમ ફૈજીએ આજે આપી.
તેમણે જણાવ્યું કે, બને પાર્ટીઓએ 11 અને 16 ડિસેમ્બરમાં યોજાનારી ચૂંટણી માટે સીટોના તાલમેલને અંતિમ રૂપ આપી દીધુ છે. બને પાર્ટીઓ 12 વિધાનસભા ક્ષેત્રોમાં સાથે મળીને ઉમેદવારો ઉતારશે.

કોંગ્રેસ ભાજપ ચૂંટણી પ્રક્રિયા
ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીને અનુલક્ષીને રાજ્યના બંને પ્રમુખ પક્ષોએ પોતાની કામગીરી શરૂ કરી દીધી છે. ભાજપ સરકારે સંકલન સમિતિની રચના કરીને પોતે સમગ્ર ચૂંટણીપ્રક્રિયામાં આગળ હોવાનો દાવો કર્યો છે. ત્યારે કોંગ્રેસે ચૂંટણીના પ્રચારપસારથી માંડીને ચૂંટણી કમિટીઓ, પ્રભારી અને નિરીક્ષકોની નિમણૂકો કરવાની પ્રક્રિયા પૂરી કરી લીધી છે.
ભાજપના ચૂંટણી પ્રચાર અંગે ભાજપના પ્રવકતા વિજય રૂપાણીએ પત્રકારો સાથેની વાતચીત જણાવ્યું કે આગામી ચૂંટણી સમિતિ અને તેને લગતી અન્ય કમિટીઓની રચના સમયાંતરે થઈ જશે. પત્રકારો પૂછ્યું કે, કમિટીની રચના કરવામાં આવનાર છે ? કોના અઘ્યક્ષસ્થાને રચાશે ? તેના ઉત્તરમાં રૂપાણીએ કહ્યું કે, ચૂંટણી અંગેનું જાહેરનામું બહાર પડે ત્યાં સુધીમાં કમિટીની રચના થઈ જશે. જેના અઘ્યક્ષ પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ જ હોય છે. બાકીની કમિટીઓની રચના થવાની છે ? તેના અંગે તેમણે હકારમાં ઉત્તર વાળ્યો હતો.
એક પ્રશ્નના ઉત્તરમાં તેમણે કહ્યું કે, રાજયસરકાર અને ભાજપની વિવિધ યાત્રાઓ, સંમેલનો સંપન્ન થયાં છે અને હવે નવરાત્રી દરમિયાન અલગ રીતે પ્રચાર કાર્ય માટે પક્ષ તૈયારી કરી રહ્યો છે. ભાજપ અને સરકાર દ્વારા અત્યાર સુધીમાં વણથંભી યાત્રામાં ચાર હજાર જેટલાં ગામો, સાગરખેડૂ અને વનબંધુથી અન્ય સાત હજાર ગામો, વંચિતોના વિકાસ યાત્રાથી ૭૫૦ જિલ્લા પંચાયતોની બેઠકો અને ૧૬૭ નગરપાલિકાઓમાં રાત્રિનાં સંમેલનો યોજીને પ્રચારનું પ્રથમ ચરણ પૂરું કર્યું છે.
છેલ્લે તેઓએ જણાવ્યું કે, કેન્દ્રીય કાપડમંત્રી શંકરસિંહ વાધેલાએ રામસેતુના મુદે ભાજપની ટીકા કરવાને બદલે પોતે એવી રાડ પાડવી જોઈએ કે કરોડો હિન્દુઓની આસ્થા સમાન રામસેતુને તોડાશે નહીં. વાસ્તવમાં રામસેતુ તોડવાની માનસિકતા કોંગ્રેસની યુપીએ સરકારની છે અને તે મુદે જ પાછી ખેંચાયેલી એફિડેવિટમાં પ્રતિપાદિત થતો હતો. આથી વાધેલાએ પોતાની કોંગ્રેસ અને તેમની સરકાર વતીથી આવી જાહેરાત કરવી જોઈએ. આમ તેઓએ બીન માંગેલી સ્લાહ કોંગ્રેસને ચોપડી દીધી હતી.
આ રીતે ભાજપ તમામ રીતે આગળ છે. તેમણે કહ્યું કે, પૂર્વ પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ રાજેન્દ્રસિંહ રાણાના અઘ્યક્ષસ્થાને રચાયેલી ચૂંટણી સંકલન સમિતિની આજે પ્રથમ બેઠક મળી હતી. જેમાં રૂપાલા ઉપરાંત પ્રદેશ પ્રભારી ઓમ માથુરે હાજર રહીને માર્ગદર્શન આપ્યું હતું.
કોંગ્રેસના ભૂતપૂર્વ ચાર ધાર સભ્યો ભાજપમાં - ચૂંટણી શરૂ થઇ તે પહેલાજ ધારાસભ્યોનો પાર્ટી બદલ કાર્યક્ર્મ શરૂ થઇ ગયો છે. જેની શરૂઆત કોંગ્રેસના ચાર ધારાસભ્યોએ કરી છે. જેમાં કરછના ડો. નિમાબહેન આચાર્ય, દ્વારકાના પબુભા માણેક, દક્ષિણમાંથી શંકરભાઈ વારલી અને મનીષ ગિલિટવાલાનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. આ સભ્યો જિલ્લાકક્ષાએ યોજાયેલા સંમેલનોમાં જોડાયા હતા. જ્યારે ભાજપમાં નારાજ જૂથના સસ્પેંડ થયેલા ધારાસભ્યો હવે ધારાસભ્યપદેથી રાજીનામાં આપનાર હોવાની માહિતી પ્રાપ્ત થઇ છે.

કોંગ્રેસના ભૂતપૂર્વ ચાર ધાર સભ્યો ભાજપમાં - ચૂંટણી શરૂ થઇ તે પહેલાજ ધારાસભ્યોનો પાર્ટી બદલ કાર્યક્ર્મ શરૂ થઇ ગયો છે. જેની શરૂઆત કોંગ્રેસના ચાર ધારાસભ્યોએ કરી છે. જેમાં કરછના ડો. નિમાબહેન આચાર્ય, દ્વારકાના પબુભા માણેક, દક્ષિણમાંથી શંકરભાઈ વારલી અને મનીષ ગિલિટવાલાનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. આ સભ્યો જિલ્લાકક્ષાએ યોજાયેલા સંમેલનોમાં જોડાયા હતા. જ્યારે ભાજપમાં નારાજ જૂથના સસ્પેંડ થયેલા ધારાસભ્યો હવે ધારાસભ્યપદેથી રાજીનામાં આપનાર હોવાની માહિતી પ્રાપ્ત થઇ છે.
શિવસેનાના કાર્યાધ્યક્ષ ઉધ્ધવ ઠાકરે નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના સમર્થનમાં
શિવસેનાના કાર્યાધ્યક્ષ ઉદ્ધવ ઠાકરેએ આજે ગુજરાતના મુખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીને સમર્થનમાં આગળ આવતાં પ્રદેશને 2002 કોમી હુલ્લડને લઇને સમાચાર પત્રિકા તહલકાના સ્ટિંગ ઓપરેશનના એક રાજનૈતિક કાવતરૂ ગણાવ્યું.
શ્રી ઠાકરેએ એક વ્યકતવ્યમાં કહ્યું હતું કે મોદીની ધરપકડ કરનાર રાજનૈતિક નેતાઓની નજર અલ્પસંખ્યક સમુદાયના વોટ પર છે. તેમને મિડિયાના એક ભાગને ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ ગણાવતાં કહ્યું હતું કે ગુજરાત કોમી હુલ્લડોની વાત કરી રહ્યાં છે, પરંતુ ગોધરા ટ્રેન કાંડ પર કેમ ચૂપ છે.
તેમને કહ્યું હતું કે નરેન્દ્ર મોદી શું કરે છે અને શું નથી કરતાં તેની ચિંતા ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ લોકોને કરવી જોઇએ નહી કારણ કે મોદી વિશે ચૂકાદો તે પ્રદેશના લોકો કરશે.
શ્રી ઠાકરેએ એક વ્યકતવ્યમાં કહ્યું હતું કે મોદીની ધરપકડ કરનાર રાજનૈતિક નેતાઓની નજર અલ્પસંખ્યક સમુદાયના વોટ પર છે. તેમને મિડિયાના એક ભાગને ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ ગણાવતાં કહ્યું હતું કે ગુજરાત કોમી હુલ્લડોની વાત કરી રહ્યાં છે, પરંતુ ગોધરા ટ્રેન કાંડ પર કેમ ચૂપ છે.
તેમને કહ્યું હતું કે નરેન્દ્ર મોદી શું કરે છે અને શું નથી કરતાં તેની ચિંતા ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ લોકોને કરવી જોઇએ નહી કારણ કે મોદી વિશે ચૂકાદો તે પ્રદેશના લોકો કરશે.
નરેન્દ્ર મોદી રાહુલ ગાંધીને પડકારસે
કોંગ્રેસ ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાના ચૂંટણી અભિયાનમાં રાહુલ ગાંધીમાં રાહુલ ગાંધીને ઉતારવાની યોજના બની રહી છે તે પ્રદેશના મુખ્યમંત્રીએ યુવા સાંસદને પોતાની રાજનીતિ વિશે લોકોને સમજાવવાનો પડકાર છે.
રાજ્યમાં ડિસેમ્બરમાં થનાર વિધાનસભા ચૂંટણી વિશે પ્રચારમાં રાહુલ ગાંધીને ઉતારવાની કોંગ્રેસની યોજના પર મોદીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે ગુજરાતને તેમના માટે પ્રશિક્ષણ સ્થળ બનવા જોઇએ.
પોતાની રાજનીતિ વિશે ગુજરાત ગુજરાતના લોકોને સમજવા માટે તેમને પોતાના બધા હુનરોનો ઉપયોગ કરવો જોઇએ.
મોદીએ કહ્યું હતું કે આ ચૂંટણીમાં કોઇ રાજનૈતિક પાર્ટીએ નહી પરંતુ લોકોને પ્રથમ જ એંજડા નક્કી કરી દિધો છે. મુખ્યમંત્રી 2002માં રાજ્યમાં થયેલા તોફાનોને કારણે ચારેય તરફથી આલોચનાઓનો સામાન કરી રહ્યાં છે.
મોદીએ સહારા સમય ચેનલ સાથે વાતચીતમાં કહ્યું કે આલોચકોને હુમલો કરવા દો. પરંતુ મારૂ ધ્યાન રાજ્યના વિકાસ પર છે. મોદી આ પ્રશ્ર્નને ટાળી દિધો કે તેમના સહયોગી દંગાને લઇને કેમ ગૌરવવિત મહસૂસ કરે છે.

સોનિયા ગાંધી 3જી નવેમ્બરે ગુજરાતમાં
ગુજરાતમાં આણંદના વઘાસી ખાતે ૩જી નવેમ્બરે કોંગ્રેસ દ્વારા યોજાનારા મહિલા સંમેલનમાં હાજરી આપવા કોંગ્રેસ અધ્યક્ષ સોનિયા ગાંધી આવી રહ્યા છે, તેઓ સંબોધન કરતાં પહેલાં અખંડ ભારતના શિલ્પી સરદાર પટેલના કરમસદ ખાતેના નિવાસસ્થાને જઈને પુષ્પાંજલિ અર્પણ કરશે.
હાલમાં 31મી ડિસેમ્બરે સરદાર પટેલની જન્મ જયંતિ ઉજવામાં આવી હતી. આ અંગે પ્રાપ્ત માહિતી મુજબ કોંગ્રેસ પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ ભરત સોલંકીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, મહિલા સંમેલન માટે ગુજરાત કોંગ્રેસ દ્વારા તડામાર તૈયારીઓ ચાલી રહી છે. આ સંમેલનમાં રાજયભરમાંથી બે લાખ જેટલી મહિલાઓ ઊમટી પડે તેવી સંભાવના રહેલી છે.
હાલમાં 31મી ડિસેમ્બરે સરદાર પટેલની જન્મ જયંતિ ઉજવામાં આવી હતી. આ અંગે પ્રાપ્ત માહિતી મુજબ કોંગ્રેસ પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ ભરત સોલંકીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, મહિલા સંમેલન માટે ગુજરાત કોંગ્રેસ દ્વારા તડામાર તૈયારીઓ ચાલી રહી છે. આ સંમેલનમાં રાજયભરમાંથી બે લાખ જેટલી મહિલાઓ ઊમટી પડે તેવી સંભાવના રહેલી છે.
ગુજરાત ગૌરવનો મોદીનો દાવો પોકળ
કોંગ્રેસે ગુજરાતમાં ચૌમુખી વિકાસના રાજ્યના મુખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના દાવાઓને સંપૂર્ણ રીતે ખોટા ઠેરવતાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે તેઓએ પોતાના શાસનકાળ દરમિયાન યુવાઓ, ખેડુતો, આદિવાસીઓ અને લઘુમતીઓ માટે કોઇ જ કાર્ય નથી કર્યું.
કેન્દ્રીય વિજ્ઞાન અને પ્રૌદ્યોગીક મંત્રી તેમજ કોંગ્રેસના વરિષ્ઠ નેતા કપિલ સિબ્બલે અહીંયા પત્રકાર પરિષદમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે શ્રી મોદીનું ગુજરાત ગૌરવનું સુત્ર ફક્ત થોડાક ઉદ્યોગ ઘરોમાં થયેલ લાભ સુધી જ સીમિત છે. રાજ્યમાં જુદાજુદા ક્ષેત્રો પર જો નજર નાંખીઓ તો શ્રી મોદીના ગુજરાત ગૌરવના દાવાઓ અને વિકાસની વાતોમાં કોઇ જ દમ દેખાતો નથી.

ગુજરાતમાં ઉમેદવારોની પસંદગી પ્રક્રિયા શરૂ
ભાજપાએ ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચુંટણી માટે આજે ઉમેદવારોની પસંદગી પ્રક્રિયા શરૂ કરી દીધી છે. પ્રદેશમાં આ વર્ષે 11 અને 16 ડિસેંબર એમ બે તબક્કામાં વિધાનસભાની ચુંટણી થશે. પાર્ટી સુત્રોએ આપેલી જાણકારી પ્રમાણે, ઉમેદવારોના નામોની પસંદગી કરવા માટે રાજ્ય સંસદીય બોર્ડની ગાંધીનગર ખાતે બેઠક થઈ.
ભાજપનો કોંગ્રેસને વળતો પ્રહાર
ગુજરાતમાં સ્ટિંગ આપરેશન બાદ ગોધરા રમખાણોને લઈને આલોચનાઓનો ભોગ બની રહેલી ભાજપે કોંગ્રેસને વળતા જવાબમાં 1984 માં થયેલા શીખ રોધી રમખાણોની યાદ અપાવવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો છે. જેના માટે ભાજપે પોસ્ટર તૈયાર કરવ્યા છે જેનું શિર્ષક ' ડિનાયલ ઓફ જસ્ટિસ' રાખવામાં આવ્યું છે. ભાજપની જમ્મૂ શાખાના સંયુક્ત પ્રભારી આર પી સિંહે દાવો કર્યો છે કે, તે સમયના વડાપ્રધાન ઈન્દિરા ગાંધીની હત્યા બાદ ભડકેલા શીખ વિરોધી રમખાણોનો ભોગ બનેલા લોકોને ન્યાય ન આપવા માટે કાયદાને છેવાડે રાખી દેવામાં આવ્યો હતો. સિંહે કહ્યું કોંગ્રેસ ગુજરાત રમખાણોનો મોટો મુદ્દો બની રહી છે અને લાગે છે કે, તે શિખ વિરોધી રમખાણોને ભૂલી ગઈ છે.
રાજયમાં નિષ્પક્ષ અને શાંતિપૂર્ણ મતદાન માટે ચૂંટણીપંચનો નિર્ધાર
યુપી, બિહાર અને પિશ્ચમ બંગાળ બાદ હવે ગુજરાતમાં પણ નિષ્પક્ષ અને હિંસા રહિત ચૂંટણી ફોમ્ર્યુલા અપનાવવા માટે ચૂંટણી પંચે નિર્ધાર કરી લીધો છે.
ચૂંટણી પંચે આ રાજયોની જેમ જ ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીમાં પણ કડકાઈથી વર્તવાના સંકેતો આપી દીધા છે. ગુજરાતમાં નવી વિધાનસભાની રચના ૨૭ ડિસેમ્બરે થવાની છે. ચૂંટણી પંચે ચૂંટણીની તૈયારીઓના ભાગરૂપે રાજય સરકાર પાસેથી રાજય સ્તરે યોજાતી પ્રતિયોગિતા પરીક્ષાઓ, શાળા કોલેજૉમાં યોજાનારી પરીક્ષાઓ, સ્થાનિક અને રાષ્ટ્રીય તહેવારોની તારીખો મંગાવી લીધી છે.
લગભગ નવેમ્બરના પ્રથમ સપ્તાહમાં ચૂંટણીની તારીખો અને સમયપત્રક જાહેર કરવાની સંભાવના છે. મતદાર યાદીમાં સુધારણા પર દેખરેખ અને સમીક્ષા માટે આવેલ ચૂંટણી પંચના ઉરચ અધિકારીઓની ટીમ ટૂંક સમયમાં પોતાનો અહેવાલ ચૂંટણી કમિશ્નર ગોપાલ સ્વામીને સોંપશે. આ વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીમાં તમામ મતદાન કેન્દ્રો પર અર્ધ લશ્કરી દળો તૈનાત કરવામાં આવશે.
ચૂંટણી પંચે આ રાજયોની જેમ જ ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીમાં પણ કડકાઈથી વર્તવાના સંકેતો આપી દીધા છે. ગુજરાતમાં નવી વિધાનસભાની રચના ૨૭ ડિસેમ્બરે થવાની છે. ચૂંટણી પંચે ચૂંટણીની તૈયારીઓના ભાગરૂપે રાજય સરકાર પાસેથી રાજય સ્તરે યોજાતી પ્રતિયોગિતા પરીક્ષાઓ, શાળા કોલેજૉમાં યોજાનારી પરીક્ષાઓ, સ્થાનિક અને રાષ્ટ્રીય તહેવારોની તારીખો મંગાવી લીધી છે.

આગામી ચૂંટણી ધર્મના નામે નહીં પણ જ્ઞાતિના નામે લડાશે
આગામી ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીમાં ધાર્મિક ધ્રુવીકરણ કરતાં જ્ઞાતિ પરિબળ વધુ હાવી થશે. રાજકીય વિશ્લેષકો અનુસાર આગામી વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણી જ્ઞાતિ પ્રથાના આધારે લડાશે,કે જે છેલ્લાં બે દશકામાં ગુજરાતમાં કયારેય જોવા મળ્યું નથી.
આ પહેલાંની ચૂંટણીઓમાં પણ જ્ઞાતિ પ્રથાનો પ્રભાવ હતો પરંતુ તેની સામે ધર્મના આધારે ધ્રુવીકરણનું પરિબળ વધારે મહત્વનું બન્યું હતું. ભાજપ પર એવો પણ આરોપ મુકવામાં આવ્યો છે કે તેણે સમાજનું ધ્રુવીકરણ કર્યુ છે. જૉ કે હાલમાં એમ લાગે છે કે હિન્દુત્વવાદનો મુ¼ો એટલો અસરકારક રહ્યો નથી અને રાજયમાં ચૂંટણી જ્ઞાતિપ્રથાના આધારે લડવામાં આવશે.
પટેલો છેલ્લાં બે દશકાથી ભાજપની પડખે રહ્યાં હતા,પરંતુ હવે તેમાંની બે પેટા જાતિનું વિભાજન થયું હોય તેમ લાગે છે. લેઉવાએ ભાજપથી અંતર વધાર્યુ છે જયારે કડવા હજૂ પણ ભાજપની પડખે છે. લેઉવા પટેલોએ સરદાર પટેલ ઉત્કર્ષ સમિતિની રચના કરી છે અને તાલુુકા સ્તરે ગુજરાતના મુંખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના વિરોધમાં જનસભાઓ યોજી રહ્યાં છે. તેઓ ચૂંટણી પહેલાં રાજયના ૧૦૨ તાલુકાઓમાં આવી જનસભાઓ કરવાના છે,કે જયાં પટેલોની મોટી વસ્તી છે.
મોદીના વિરોધી મનાતા કેશુભાઈ પટેલ અને તાજેતરમાં સસ્પેન્ડ કરવામાં આવેલા ભાજપના ધારાસભ્ય ગોર્ધન ઝડફિયા,ધીરુ ગજેરા,બેચર ભાદાની,બાવકુ ઉધાડ અને બાલુ તંતી લેઉવા પટેલ છે. મોદી કડવા પટેલને મહત્વ આપી રહ્યાં હોય તેમ કહેવામાં આવી રહ્યું છે.
રાજયના પ્રદેશ પ્રમુખ પુરુષોત્તમ રૂપાલા પણ કડવા પટેલ છે અને તેમણે મોદીની સાથે રહેવાનો નિણર્ય કર્યોછે. આ બાજુ કોળી સમુદાય એ કોંગ્રેસની પહેલેથી મતબેંક રહી છે. રાજયની ૧૫ ટકા વસ્તી કોળી છે. તેમના સમુદાય વિરુઘ્ધના અપરાધને કાબુમાં રાખવામાં ભાજપ સરકાર નિષ્ફળ જતા તેઓ મોદીની વિરુઘ્ધ થયા છે.
જૂનાગઢમાં કોળી સમુદાયની યુવતી પર બળાત્કાર કરાયા બાદ હત્યા કરવામાં આવી હતી અને રાજય પોલીસે હજી દોષિતની ધરપકડ કરી નથી. એક માત્ર કોળી ધારાસભ્ય સોમા પટેલે પક્ષના અસંતુષ્ટો સાથે હાથ મીલાવીને મુખ્યમંત્રી વિરુધ્ધ મોરચો માંડ્યો છે.
આ બાજુ સસ્પેન્ડ કરાયેલા નલીન ભટ્ટ પણ બ્રાહ્મણોને એક કરી રહ્યાં છે. ભાજપના નેતા અને ભુતપૂર્વ સાસંદ દિલીપ સાંધાનીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે પક્ષના અસંતુષ્ટો રાજયમાં જ્ઞાતિવાદનું રાજકારણ રમી રહ્યાં છે.
